Photography Contest
The Photography Contest was organised as part of the North East Cycling Awards 2023. The entries were judged by Dr. Simanta Kalita, a well known Photographer from Assam as well as an Environment, Sustainable development & Education Professional.
The name of the winner were declared during the North East Cycling Awards 2023 presentation ceremony held on 4th November 2023 in Guwahati.
The winners and their photographs are displayed below.
His photograph of a man cycling in the city with a flag on his cycle depicts his love for the country as well his struggle of a common man who has to share the same road space with motorized vehicles
His photograph depicts the importance of using safety helmets while cycling and how such information can be passed on from seniors
His photograph captures the commute of a man in the city sharing the road space with other vehicles as well.
His photograph beautifully captures the motions of young BMX cyclists practicing under the bright sun.
Rules and Regulations

1. Eligibility:
The contest is open to all individuals, both amateur and professional photographers.
Please note that while we welcome entries from worldwide participants, the awards and recognition will be specifically focused on photographs that were captured in any one the North Eastern states (Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura). We are eager to showcase the beauty and stories unique to this area through your lens.
2. Theme:
The theme for the contest is "The City and the Cycle." All submitted photographs must align with this theme.
3. Submission Period:
The contest will be launched on 16th October 2023.
The submission deadline is 31st October 2023, 11:59 PM IST.
4. Entry Requirements:
Photos can taken by either DSLR or Phone Camera.
Each participant is allowed to submit up to two (2) photographs only
Digital submissions are required.
Submitted images should be in JPEG format and not exceed 5MB.
All photographs must be original works created by the participant.
Photographs may be monochrome or Colour.
Photograph should not have any kind of Watermark.
Manipulation of the photographs is not allowed except minor post processing like adjustment of exposure, contrast, noise reduction and cropping. No element can be removed from the image or added to the image.
Photographs should be in the ratio of -
a) 2:3 (4:6)
b) 16:9
c) 5:7
d) 4:5 (8:10)
e) 1:1
Photographs should not include any kind of nudity, violence or obscene scene that may offend any individual or community.
Any misrepresentation of facts will lead to automatic disqualification from the contest.
5. Judging:
Entries will be judged based on the following criteria:
Creativity and originality
Relevance to the theme
Composition and visual impact
Technical skill
An expert photographer will evaluate the submissions.
Judges' decisions are final and binding.
6. Prizes:
There will be three (3) winning positions:
First Place
Second Place
Third Place
Prizes for each position will be a Trophy and a Certificate.
Winners will be notified by email no later than 2nd November 2023
7. Usage Rights:
Participants retain the copyright to their images.
By submitting their photographs, participants grant the North East Cycling Awards and its organisers Pedal for a Change the right to use their images for promotional and non-commercial purposes, with proper attribution.
8. Disqualifications:
Entries will be disqualified if they do not adhere to the rules and regulations, including the theme or submission requirements.
Plagiarized or inappropriate content will lead to immediate disqualification.
9. Privacy and Data Protection:
Participant data will be used solely for the purpose of the contest and will not be shared with third parties.
10. Code of Conduct: - Participants are expected to exhibit respectful and ethical behavior throughout the contest.
11. Publicity and Promotion: - The North East Cycling Awards and its organisers Pedal for a Change reserves the right to use the participants' names and photographs for promotional purposes related to the contest.
12. Liability: - The North East Cycling Awards and its organisers Pedal for a Change are not responsible for lost, damaged, or stolen entries.
13. Changes to Rules: - The North East Cycling Awards and its organisers Pedal for a Change reserves the right to make changes to the rules and regulations if necessary, with prior notification to participants.
